The
"Karl Kilian Festspiele(=festival) 2007"-project deals with the idea
of some politicians - that artists shoud act like an Ich-AG.
That means, that the artist has to take care of his provisions for
old age himself, also his health-insurrance etc. It means that the
artist also has to promote himself, his work etc.
I dont think so!
It is not the job of an artist to promote or sell
himself!
The job of an artist is to make good art!
But Karl Kilian does it with his "Karl Kilian Festspiele 2007":
He shows how it is, if an artist promots himself like crazy!
This is an improtant part of his art-concept. Another part of the
festival-concept of course reflects the egocentrism of our time.
& Kilian does in the festival lots of things, that are for normal
not "allowed": a nearly unknown artist celebrates himself 4 weeks
with a retrospektive, a Tribute-to-himself-exhibition (that he also
curates... ;-)), there are concerts, dj-lines, screenings, readings...&
it's the first time that Karl Kilian shows nearly all his different
pseudonyms (fm zombiemaus, Pornobone, Kosmoprolet, trashterrier...)
& different arts united in 1 big thing!
